Mary Singer

I work in a wide variety of media. Fine art portraits of people as well as equine and scenic are included in my work. The Upper Mississippi River valley provides much incentive. I am known for capturing the spirit of animals and scenery and the soul of individuals. Whether portraying a person, a home or nature I am often told that I breathe ‘life’ into the painting.

My methods include working from life or taking my own pictures of the subject . I have had much experience working solely from photos supplied by the client. Equine art has become a specialty. Always a favorite , horses were one of my first subjects and continue to be a favorite. Able to portray any breed the client supplies information about the personality and habits of the individual . A member of the Equine Art Guild I also have mule and donkey prints and notecards. Having done many formal portraits of people and families I have become expert at taking information from photos and information supplied by the client and bringing it together to produce a portrait that really portrays the subject. Oil portraits in full color done from old photos is a way to preserve them for posterity.

My work is in private collections around the US and the world. It may be found on various internet sites, galleries and gift shops as well. Fine art limited and open edition prints are available for many of my originals.
