David Martin, who goes by the artist name Davardo, is an interdisciplinary fine artist who lives and works in the west of Scotland.

The artist graduated from Chelsea School of Art ( BA Hons) and an MA from KIAD Canterbury (University of Kent). Upon graduating he worked in the design industry followed by lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Project Manager, Researcher and teacher. He also worked with offenders in the criminal justice system addressing offending behaviour and rehabilitation through creative practice.

Through anecdotal and personal experiences and interactions the figurative aspects of his work has sought to understand and interpret how transgression is a mode of expression in some societies and has tried to translate aspects of this human condition into visual representation.
His abstract work which runs in parallel with the other works is an exploration of the hypnagogic structure of the world in a realm between the conscious and semiconscious mind. These assemblages are often derived from apprehending fleeting images that filter through the state between sleep and wakefulness and attempting to create a sense of this peculiar state of reality.
