Rajul is an international mixed-media artist whose work engenders respite and renewal from the chaos of daily life. Prior to becoming an artist, Rajul spent 20 years in healthcare marketing. As someone who has coped with Depression and Anxiety, Rajul draws from personal experiences and insights gained in her prior career.
Her work is a fusion between the Japanese Art of Kintsugi and the Spiritual teachings of the Chakras. Using the Aura of each Chakra, Rajul paints meditative abstract expressions of color.
The art of Kintsugi is a practice of mending broken pottery with lacquer mixed with precious metals. The once-flawed object becomes a work of art, each golden seam celebrating its history and resilience.
Chakras are energy centers within our bodies. Just as kintsugi restores broken pottery, balancing and healing our chakras helps us mend the energy imbalances within us.
What needs repair does not define us. We can heal and evolve into improved versions of ourselves, with renewed strength and purpose.
With a lifetime aspiration devoted to the concept of healing, Rajul’s artwork is representative of her life’s journey.
Upon moving to Japan in 2012, Rajul trained across oil, acrylic and nihonga with Master Senseis. She has taken classes at the Temple Tyler School of Art Tokyo Campus and LaSalle College in Singapore.
Prior to becoming an artist, Rajul spent 20 years in healthcare marketing. Her art has been shown in Japan, Spain, Italy and Singapore, including the ION Orchard Gallery, Arts House and Visual Arts Centre. In Japan, her work was accepted as part of national juried shows at the Ueno No Mori Art Museum, National Art Gallery in Tokyo, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Art.
