About the Bricks... 2012/14

Bricks as a symbol of the society are very often used in my works from the beginning. What is interesting in this symbol is the ambiguity in the possibilities of interpretations that bricks can give us as a wall or as a construction. As a wall it could be seen also as an obstacle, something like barrier or sign of limit or separation in life. In this case we may see it as negative, but alternatively they can be seen as a construction and therefore more positive and creative. However, we people are all these bricks and together we create a wall or a construction. So, the question here could be: do we care enough about how strong and good bricks are we?
Bricks are like particles, together creating something bigger. As in life, moments create time, experiences compose life stories, and individuals make society… For example, in music we have melody which is composed of musical notes; and this concept of melody as a symbol of life, for example, I used in 2007 with the series Melody of Life.
Since the beginning of my art research, my main story is a life story, story about an individual living in this society. Microcosm and Macrocosm. Diary of a person and at the same time a diary of the time in which this person is living. It is a mirror, a story, a construction, an interpretation, an interaction, an intellectual exercise… It is a composition which is always in movement, made of philosophy, poetry and experience seeking for an evolution, for a better life. I believe we learn to live throughout our lives; learning to live better and to understand better what our lives are all about. And this is my work, where my artworks are actually the results of my studies about life.

Always Looking For... “Always Looking For...”

Always Looking For…
Collage painting made with photos printed on paper, glue, acrylic colors, crayons, charcoal, structure paste and varnish on canvas.
100x100x3cm.
Berlin, October 2012.
This artwork symbolically presents people and their life-styles in our society. We are always looking for something and this is actually the engine that keep us going on in our lives. Always looking for… But for what? I think this question is related to our life-style where we consume even if we don´t really need anything. We don’t understand our need to consume and to possess. It is all the same with different needs: to possess material things or intellectual powers, economical or spiritual… We are always looking for more, for something else…

To experience these bricks... “To experience these bricks...”

To experience these bricks!..
Collage painting made with photos printed on paper, glue, acrylic colors, oil pastels, charcoal and varnish on canvas.
100x100x3cm
Berlin, July 2013.
This artwork is speaking about experience as the only true richness we have in our lives. We can have money and we can read lots of books, but if we do not have enough experience in our lives, we can not really understand it. Sometimes we have to feel pain and be brave or maybe change the lifestyle we have for create a new one to open the doors to new experience. It is this challenge in life that brings us bigger point of view and the power of truth with it. And if we do it with our heart, it can be really magic!

Point of view... “Point of view...”

Point of view
Collage painting made with copies of the book Afternoon Interviews with Marcel Duchamp by Calvin Tomkins on paper, glue, acrylic colors, crayons, charcoal and varnish on canvas.
100x100x3cm.
Berlin, April 2013.
This piece symbolically presents one of those moments in our lives when the only solution for continuing is to change the point of view and start looking at life differently. It makes me remember the proverb which says: “If you can not change your mind, you are not using it”.

Five Symbols About Us... “Five Symbols About Us...”

Five Symbols About Us
Collage painting made with photos printed on paper, cardboard, glue, charcoal, crayons, acrylic colors, cd and varnish on canvas.
100x100x3cm
Berlin, Februar 2013.

About Money.. “About Money..”

Money has to circle!
Collage painting made with napkins and toilet paper with printed money on it, glue, acrylic colors, charcoal, crayons and varnish on canvas.
100x100x3cm
Berlin, August 2013.
This collage painting is symbolically representing the idea about how using money in our society. I believe we should use money for exchanging and creating in our lives. Human being is the only species in the world, which needs money for existing. It is strange, but understandable. But what is a paradox is that human being is using money also for destroying this world and ourselves. Somehow this artwork should remind us to use money for better construction and freedom in our society, and not for keeping it somewhere hidden or destroying others with it´s power. But maybe all this idea is just a dream in the clouds; maybe we already lost our control and real dignity, because money is now just a tool for having power in this life? Are we controlling our money or are we controlled by our money? Every person is a brick, which can decide how to use his/her money, either for creation or destruction.

Posted on The WaLL “Posted on The WaLL”

Posted on the wall
Collage painting made with photos from Facebook´s posts printed on paper, glue, acrylic colors, charcoal, crayons and varnish on canvas.
100x100x3cm.
Berlin, May 2013.
This is actually an ironic artwork with a wall made by photos and posts from Facebook. Social networks are playing a big role in our society and with this piece I just wanted to capture this. Of course I choose the posts and photos which I like and appreciate, with the need of sharing them on this wall as well.

Portraits of Situations 2014/15

I chose to continue my art research with a new series, called Portraits of Situations, where artworks are named by numbers and all of them are recognizable through this motif of bricks as a representative symbol of my brand. There are different themes and topics in these artworks, of course, but they all have this same constant symbol of bricks. The first series that contained bricks actually started back in 2012 with the title About the Bricks, but at the time it was not planned or chosen as a main symbol of my brand, it was spontaneous inspiration and action, as usual with my art. Now, however, I deliberately choose this idea of bricks for presenting and explaining my brand conceptually with stronger and clearer recognition.
I believe we learn to live throughout our lives; learning to live better and to understand better what our lives are all about. And this is my work, where my artworks are actually the results of my studies about life.
I find bricks as a symbol very interesting because of the ambiguity in the possibilities of interpretations that bricks can give us as a wall or as a construction. As a wall it could be seen also as an obstacle, like a barrier or sign of limit or separation in life. In this case we might see it as negative, but alternatively it can be seen as a construction and therefore more positive and creative. However, in case of representing the society, we people are all these bricks and together we create a wall or a construction. In this case we could ask ourselves how good and strong we are as bricks? In the case where these bricks represent a life of an individual person, they become moments in life of this person. And going back to the ambiguity of wall or a construction: in difficult times the together of bricks could be interpreted as a wall we have to climb, and in good times these bricks are a construction which we are creating through our experience of moments for our evolution.

Stories 2013/15

I am a slave to the need to create and the only freedom for me is the act of creation itself. World is full of arguments, paradoxes, destructions, hurry and tears. The artist´s role here is torn between the sacredness of mischievous poetry and the impatience of everyday life that constantly brings new situations and with them ideas and inspirations. As an artist, I am recounting the tale of my life, writing the poem of my discovery and painting my emotions, constantly filing time and space with unstoppable ideas. I study life and my artworks are results of my studies.

This series was born in November of the year 2013 and it is for me representing a new circle of paintings in my creativity. In 2000, when I bought for the first time in my life a canvas and colors, i started to paint with oil colors on canvas. I felt myself as a painter. Then for many years I was using collage with acrylic colors as a main technique for realizing my ideas. I was feeling myself as an artist. What happened is that my painting part of work became just like a decorative part of the work, because collage has already took the place for the main part of the expression. So, I decided now, to make a new series of paintings without collages, which are also telling us long stories, but this time without items attacked on canvas, just with painting. I feel myself now as human being, trying to find again old painter inside myself and give some discipline to the artist.

Artworks from this series were to date exhibited at these exhibitions:
– Group exhibition Berlino in Arte at Aquabit Gallery in Berlin, Germany 2014
– Group exhibition Sense of life at Sabrina Falzone Gallery in Milan, Italy 2014
– Solo exhibition at Slovenian Embassy in Brussels, Belgium, September 2014
– Solo exhibition at Caffè degli Artisti, Berlin, Germany, September 2015

Artistrait “Artistrait”

“Artistrait”
Acrylic colors and varnish on canvas.

Berlin, January/February 2014.
This particular painting is inspired by a photo that my daughter took of me, while I was painting with my hair. And this moment become like a symbol for me; because hair is a symbol of life and painting is a symbol of my work. So, this subject of painting with hair it could be a symbol of this symbiosis between my life and my work, which is actually Art. My art is my story, my poetry of life… and everybody can reflect in it. We all are human beings, searching for the truth and happiness in our lives.

Life Time “Life Time”

“Life Time”
Acrylic colors, charcoal, crayons and varnish on canvas.
100x100x3cm
Berlin, November 2013.
I started to paint this painting through big emotional necessity first days of November 2013 in Berlin while my father was dying because of stomach cancer in hospital in Italy. Since I could not be there with him at the time, I felt connected with him through painting this canvas. It helped me to stay connected to myself as well. As I am a very emotional person, sometimes I use art to project all these big emotions back out from inside me and in this way I help myself to keep my soul clean from carrying too much weight. On this canvas we can see symbolically presented tree of life in four seasons, growing through the seat where the food is actually the sky with clouds and backrest from the chair is a clock without hands.

This artwork remind us to believe that artist should be like an angel in our hurry business society. An artist should always stay spiritual and his/her artworks should always continuing to educate, to open the minds of people and bring them creativity and inspiration in their every-day lives.

Poetry “Poetry”

Berlin, March/April 2014.
Just try to imagine that everything in this world has a story. Everyone or everything you can see on this planet has a particular story about life. And if we could just for a moment hear all these stories, we would probably speak, judge, speculate, hurry and fight much less then we usually do in our lives. At least I hope so, and that´s why with this artwork I encourage everybody to try to listen the life with it´s subtle subtitles!

Being Fast “Being Fast”

“Being Fast”
Acrylic colors and glossy liquid transparent varnish on canvas.
100x100x3cm
Berlin, July/August 2014
In this summer something happened that suddenly changed my life. It started to drive me crazy from my past to my future. I don’t know exactly what happened but it is an important movement which is changing me from one moment to another. It is unbelievable how fast my thoughts and feelings are changing. And the most important power here is this movement which is impossible to describe with the words. But I can learn and teach here, that everything is relative and there is no universal truth. The only universal truth could be the movement itself.

This artwork leaves freedom to all possible interpretations. But for me it presents that moments in life, when we just need to keep walking. Not always life is easy and not always we have the power to see it optimistically. But if we at least have one good friend or one good decision in our lives; someone or something which reminds us to keep going on, to “keep walking” …then…this is the moment described here in this artwork.
