Born in 1932, calligrapher Izumi Okabe is member of the Okayama Kajin (poet) Group. Mainly active as a poet at the tanka (classical short Japanese poem) group in Okayama Prefecture, she publishes books of poetry “By the Kurashiki River” and “Passageway”. Okabe records her own tanka poems in calligraphy.
