Ilene Richard received her B.F.A. in Illustration, Graphic Design and Jewelry Design from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth. After graduating, Ilene decided to pursue her career in jewelry design and has exhibited her work in galleries all over the country including many one-woman shows in and around Boston and New York. After investing many years in the jewelry business, Ilene decided to revisit her passion for children's book illustration. She attended the Museum School in Boston, and the DeCordova Museum School for continuing education classes in illustration.
Since concentrating on children's publishing, Ilene has had the privilege of working with and been published by: Random House, Grossett & Dunlap, Kar-Ben, Spider Magazine, harcourt, Houghton Mifflin, and Leapfrog to name a few.
Ilene has expanded her portfolio with a collection of acrylic paintings ranging from colorful expressive figurative works to animal portraits. Her award winning work has been exhibited in various galleries and many juried shows all around New England and New York.
Ilene Richard is an award-winning fine art painter who specializes in whimsical large scale figurative artwork. Her work stirs the imagination and draws the viewers easily into her world. With each painting, she creates an emotional and personal connection between the viewer and the fun, colorful people and animals in her paintings.
