Born in Southern Sakhalin (formerly the Japanese territory of South Karafuto) in 1943, Tohko Maruyama is a Japanese style painter and president of the Kotokai. Pursuing to incorporate oil painting approaches into ink painting, she tries to catch and depict the objects spatially from multifaceted angles and capture her own distinctive perspectives.
