Laurie Maves is a Commissioned Visual Artist and Live Performance Painter. She firmly believes she is here on this planet to make your painting.
Laurie LOVES a lot of things! In addition to her painting, she loves the people she surrounds herself with, the ever challenging practice of yoga, and the fanciful world of collaborations. She feels that she shines her brightest when she finds other creative souls to conspire with. She has collaborated with musicians, animators, story tellers, photographers and poets.
Laurie Maves is also an artist who wants to promote the concept of living one's life with purpose. As an creative being, she is constantly finding ways to bring her works to the world, to inspire, to motivate, to facilitate creativity and promote love throughout the universe. She knows in her soul that this is a GARGANTUAN task but what else is there to do if she wants to live her life with purpose?
Laurie's most recent series of painting has been simply called her "Circle Paintings." The circle is an age old symbol. For her, it supports the concept of the oneness of humanity. We all come from one source. Call it God, Call it Allah, Call it the Universe, Laurie's belief is that we all come from some central source. And in recognizing that belief, her aim is to promote peace and healing on this planet with her own god-given gift of being a creative. With this divine information that we all have access to, the circle paintings are made with the intention of being meditative in nature. She listens to trance music, or pineal activation tones or simply classical music while these circles are painted free hand one on top of another on top of another until the entire surface of the canvas is filled with layers of color and light and love.

Sometimes artists have no better name for their works than "Untitled." As Laurie Maves was completing the series of works for a Denver show called, "hand of spirit," she was about to leave these works as simply works with no title. She was to name them, "Untitled." Recently, however, someone had referred to her as being, "entitled." Although, the artist initially felt the term was meant to be derogatory, she later came to understand that the term meant many uplifting and powerfully positively things to her.
