Chris McGinnis earned his Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Arizona in 2010 where he published his thesis entitled “Progress and the Great Productive Machine.” He regularly attends national and international artist-in-residence programs, most recently the 2011 LOMEA Arts Symposium in Rousse Bulgaria. Chris has been published in the National Studio Visit Magazine, European Art Magazine, The MFA Now catalog, as well as numerous local publications including Pittsburgh’s Post Gazette and The Pittsburgh Tribune Review. His work has been shown extensively throughout the United States and abroad in museums, galleries and universities. Upcoming exhibitions include a solo exhibition at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts in February 2012 and the Southwest Biennial taking place at the University of Arizona Museum of Art during the fall that same year. Chris was born in Indiana Pennsylvania but currently lives in Pittsburgh where he teaches painting at Carnegie Mellon University and writes art criticism for Pittsburgh’s City Paper.
