For 22 years now, Majo Portilla has been painting across the globe, from Amsterdam, Guatemala, USA, Basel, Dubai to Hilversum where she currently resides. With a wealth of experience accrued over her travels, she channels them into her bold semi-abstract pieces that commands the vibrancy of her artistic career.

With oil and acrylics as her core painting mediums, Majo assesses the human condition and draws out the inner beauty and strengths of her subjects. Often clad in intricately textured outfits, her figures are mostly devoid of any facial features, prompting her viewers to look not at the surface, but introspectively at the qualities of the mental and emotional states.
