I am a retired vet who has become a pastel artist. I was introduced to pastels as a teenager by a friend of my father’s and in fact I still have my first set of pastels. I have completed a large number of works in the past 15 years, many of which can be seen on my website. Detail is of importance to me and each work takes 20 to 30 hours to complete working from photographs - I undertake commission work as well as create artwork in a wide range of subject matter.

I completed this commission from a photo taken by the owner and they were very happy with the outcome. I enjoy creating detail!
This image was commissioned by the photographer who was the wife of the shearer. This excellent photo allowed me to reproduce something special using soft pastels and pastel pencils on Colourfix pastel paper.
A friend of ours wanted to surprise their daughter-in-law's parents and as they owned three racehorses this commission seemed a good idea. The photographs were supplied by the daughter-in-law and were not the best but they were all I had to work with. I hope you like the finished result?
