Renaissance man, Loren D. Adams, Jr.
Now celebrating 54 years as a professional Visionary Fine Arts Surrealist Innovator…
The Marquis Who's Who Society has published an extended Biography Here: Loren Adams - Who's Who Recipient of The Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award - http://www.24-7pressrelease.com/press-release-s...
Born in Linton, Indiana on Sept. 28,1945. He developed a profound interest in painting at the age of 9 years old. One of his early original works found it's way into a major retrospective exhibition at the prestigious R.W. Norton Art Gallery, a Museum of early American, European & Contemporary Fine Art in Shreveport, Louisiana in February of 1979. He was then the youngest living Artist in America to have a major Retrospective at a Major Museum. The R.W. Norton Art Foundation, 4747 Creswell Drive, Shreveport, Louisiana
His first public exhibit at Roseville Center Museum, Roseville, California in 1967, was also the year he quit his day job as an emergency room L.P.N. to devote full time to Art and chase after
his dream to become a master Artist.
Today his beautiful original oil paintings & certified limited editions are in museums and important collections in nine countries: Australia, Japan, China, Germany, Scotland, England, Canada, Mexico, and The United States.
Not content to rest on his past laurels, he continues to extend the borders of his creative excellence, always searching for a finer expression of his ideals. His love of classical music has often caused him to consider a career as a concert pianist, instead the Art & Music have combined to create a deeper resonance adding a richer color to both.
His Art-form; Classic Surrealism and Nuclear Mysticism, are very beautiful portals; The Journey to the City of God "Citadel Divine" AKA The Divine City. The most striking thing about all of his paintings is the quality of lighting and detail in his shadows. His portrayal of light dancing on the moving water has set him in a league all by himself.
Mr. Adams says; "In order for any Artwork to be great it must measure up to the standards that other great Art does measure up to. It must be intellectually stimulating, the composition must
be mathematically perfect, It must be historically significant, have a story important enough to help widen the planetary cultural base, and above all else it must be well painted."
In the State of California, the Prologue in the Fine Arts Statute in the Civil Code, proclaims Art to enhance culture and as such is the exact opposite of crime!
As a modern day Visionary Seer and revelator; "Essentially what I do is; read scriptures, all scriptures and time honored esoteric writings, I have dreams & visions... and then portray them in a work of Fine Art with the solemn belief that "dreams & visions are the language of The Holy Spirit" to put it in the Judeo Christian vernacular, thus: "Sharing the light ( I have seen ) with the most distant man!"

The Dream Awake series is based on my dreams about the Hawaiian and other south Pacific islands. They are representational and hyper-realistic visions of ideal natural elements composed solely from my mind's-eye and years of location studies and developmental works based on the same theme and genre.
This 20"x 24" original painting on fine portrait linen portrays the burst of light at the end of the rainbow where a river inlet meets the sea in an ideal setting with a cove with ample tropical foliage, flowering plants and an ominous rock out-cropping silhouetted against the light…
This 22"x 28" original oil painting on fine linen portrays an open sea with beautiful waters and the golden light shining through the transparent waves with a lovely array of foam patterns floating on the top of the very emotional movement of the breakers and reflections… It represents my own control of my nature.
C@2014 This 22"x 28" original oil painting on fine linen portrays a couple sailing a small gaff-rigged sloop into the calm waters on an early Spring morning in the snow capped mountainous Fjords of British Columbia. As a young man I spent countless hours sailing in the waters of B.C. so this is part of my own dream while I'm awake and remembering the days of my youth.
C@2014 This 22"x 28" original oil painting on fine linen portrays exactly what it's like to be sailing in the Pacific ocean in the Hawaiian Islands on a summer morning with the transparent waves and power of the surf all around us. There is another small schooner in the immediate distance crossing over the rolling sea while many others ad a distance and nostalgic feeling to this perfect day for sailing…
“"The Kira Star-Lani by Moonlight"”
C@2015 This 22"x 28" original oil painting on fine linen portrays my dream-boat; a 52 ft. Gaff-Rigged Ketch, with my sweet wife & darling eternal companion
at the helm sailing on an early summer's morning with a full moon lighting up the sky and all the water around us. The sailboat is named after Kira Star-Lani, our granddaughter.
C@2014 This 22"x 28" original oil painting on fine linen portrays at least two distinct voyages; the trawler in the distance on it's way to a distant fishing area and the message in the bottle in the wash-back in the foreground with beautiful foam laced patterns following the ever changing motion of a restless ocean.

Accelerated Evolution is my own genre of original "one-of-a-kind" oil paintings that features at least 5 basic motifs which symbolize eternity or "endless days and nights…" These motifs are star-fields, black & white tiles, Bougainvillea, water in various aspects, and ancient or prehistoric architecture. The general theme in all of these works is: "The journey to the city of God" AKA The Citadel Divina. Each image depicts the natural world juxtaposed with the cultural and Spiritual world of one of the original 12 tribes who colonized the world prior to the great deluge, earthquake, or the so called flood of Noah's time. These images all came to as dreams or visions which I chose to render faithfully as I originally saw them in my mind's eye.
"The Augmented Sea, Garden of Eden, The Motherland…" is the full working title of my 1981 Masterpiece. Inspired by the rare Moon-bow that I saw while visiting the Napili coastline on the island of Maui at 4:00 AM. In reality there were lots of resorts, hotels and condos along the stretch of beach where I saw this wonder of nature––I simply chose to eliminate them and faithfully render the vision as it might have been before the advent of modern mass tourism.
This 36"x 48" (914 mm x 1220 mm) original oil painting on fine portrait linen was then unveiled at the Kaanapali Resort location of Lahaina Galleries in early 1982 for several months. Later it would become my most successful selling Certified Signed & Numbered Limited Edition which is a legend of epic proportions in it's own right. To find out more just Google: The Augmented Sea to learn more than anyone in their right mind would ever want to know about my most romantic work.

C@1991 original oil on fine portrait linen - depicts an open-air room enclosed by Bougainvillea blossoms
by the seashore with a symbolic fountain of life which features a pictograph which was found engraved
in pure gold on an obelisk made of pure lapis beside the sarcophagus in King Tut's Tomb in 1929. The
pictograph is a triangle inside of a circle inside of a rectangle––it represents eternal life: "Yesterday, today,
and Forever. It has been used by many to represent many things including the AA's important usage of
this combined symbol. The meaning of the symbol is found in the Holy Scriptures: “Jesus Christ is the
same yesterday and today and forever” ( Hebrews 13:8 ) Obviously this text existed long before the tomb
of King Tut was discovered…

The Stabile Objet d’art
Painting the sea is a process of knowing myself and the many different moods and my complete emotional content
because to me they are one and the same in context. The ever changing and relentless movement of the water and the
dancing light on the surface in the endless variations would prove to be the best of subjects for me to study and master
because it contains all shape and form with the light as the featured subject in almost every painting.
Even before I started making Art full time I was already in pursuit of mastery and I always had the attitude of making
a masterpiece each and every time I started any painting. To me, starting with the idea of making a masterpiece was a
mindset that I endured throughout the process and I just knew that if I held that thought while I was working I would also
indeed make a masterpiece.
Complicated pictorial content and advanced compositions with one or even multiple vanishing points and dimensions
that took weeks to figure out let alone render by hand, I can accomplish flawlessly in minutes these days without too much
difficulty. It’s safe to say that I have mastered my craft and now I’m attempting to do work that requires many more kinds
of discipline like my new Art form that has become more challenging and more fulfilling as I get older and wiser.
Making one of my Stabile Objet d’art is a multi dimensional task that takes all of my undivided attention to detail and
in this Art form I can say that time has absolutely no meaning and to me that makes it “my dream come true.”
The 3-D three sided sculptural Stabile Objet d’art
Each of my sculptural stabile objects have three sides and they are portals to these three different aspects of mans
relationship to life and human evolution: The Natural World, The Cultural World, and The Spiritual world.
Each of these aspects is relative to a specific tribe of the descendants of one of the original twelve tribes that have
been on this planet since the beginning of time and those three aspects of nature, culture and Spirit. This is the reason
that each one of my stabiles has or will have three portals.
The Natural World will always portray the natural environment, landscape or a depiction of what would be or could
have been how it was for those people to live in and be a part of every day.
The Cultural World portrays the culture and the important elements of that time period and what that tribe may have
accomplished with their tools and traditions as they evolved over a period of time, since cultures take time to develop.
The Spiritual World portrays that cultures’ journey back to the creator or the journey back to the City of God AKA
The Citadel Divine – in plain English a picture of how that tribe related to the concept of the creator.
The natural propensity of any given people in these three aspects is then a continuum that is inherent in those people
throughout history; their general characteristics’, cultural and spiritual concerns rarely change in comparison to a one
world view of the human evolution.
It is the purpose of my work to help widen the planetary cultural base to see both our differences and the wonderful
phenomenon we know as the life we all share in spite of our differences. My goal is to display what I have learned about
what we have in common––no matter what labels, titles, or symbols we may worship as a single society. In other words:
“What it does mean to all of us.”
“The first dream about The Crystal Cave Stabile”
In early 1982 I was standing on the Kapalua Golf Course overlooking Molokai and a vivid dream came into my mind's-eye
and I was inspired to go home and begin working on preliminary drawings and constructing a working model.
“The Artist in 1983 with the working model and the first stabile”
The Crystal Cave Stabile Objet d'art in the beginning
Loren Adams carves 7 mahogany panel doors with a bandsaw, chisels, carving knives, and lots of elbow
grease with sand paper. It would be almost 5 years before the first side would be completed and the Crystal
Cave Stabile was unveiled about 2000 feet from where I had the first vision––on the patio of Lahaina Galleries
location at the Kapalua Resort in Kaanapali on the island of Maui.
Today in 2016 some 33 years later I have been busy making 6 of these exotic advanced multi-dimensional
Art-works and I also have plans to make a total of twelve of them. My work on the stabiles as visual treasures
continues at a slow yet deliberate pace––few things are this exciting to look at and for me, the Artist nothing is
rewarding to create.
Here you’ll have a glimpse of only 4 of these new Stabile objet d’art at various stages of development
because after over 30 years only three of these are completed… yet it is time to share them with those who
will take the time to discover their uniqueness.
Sincerely, Loren D. Adams, Jr.

“The Crystal Cave Stabile - Side one”
In July of 1987 The Zarathustra side AKA the Sunset or hot side, side 1 was unveiled.
Here is the Artist Loren Adams and his wife Patricia with side 1 of the first of 12 stabiles.
“Side 2 of the Crystal Cave Stabile”
The Artist with friend Madison and side 2 of the Crystal Cave. Representing the last perfect day of mid-summer,
The Motherland, the day the mountains were raised… inspired by the 5 literary works of Col. James Churchward's
books: The Lost Continent of Mu, The Children of Mu, The Sacred Symbols of Mu, The Cosmic Forces of Mu Vol. 1,
and The Cosmic Forces of Mu Vol. 2
This is only the lefthand side if the 10 ft. carved panels and the Righthand side will follow:
“The Crystal Cave - Side 2 continued”
The righthand side of side 2 features the cataclysmic earthquake with falling rocks, deluge of flooding waters,
and rising mountains are the subject of this portal. It features Bougainvillea blossoms, a title wave, and Star-fields.
Shown here with a mirror that reflects inside side 3, The Crystal Cave itself––as well as the Art exhibit where the
Crystal Cave was presented at Madison Fine Arts, in Makawao, Hawaii in July of 2005.
“Side 3 of The Crystal Cave Stabile”
The magic cave of Merlin, the magician of King Arthur's court. This is my vision about the childhood
of Merlin and his studies of magic in the Crystal Cave––homage to Mary Stewart's book: The Crystal Cave
The featured story on this side of the stabile is "The transformation of the falcon into the ring-necked dove"
and how the young magician learned to hold his temper and remain calm in stressful situations.
“The Crystal Cave Stabile Objet d'art”
The Crystal Cave as it appeared in the front window of the Share Your Dreams Show at Madison Fine Art in 2005.
The stabile weighs about 1500 pounds with it's 11 ft. in diameter motorized Rosewood Carousel and it takes 5 people
several hours to transport, un-wrap, and assemble for installation. The black & white tile floored turntable makes one
complete revolution per minute––and reverses direction at the flip of a switch.

“The Ode to Joy Stabile Side 1”
The Ode to Joy Stabile - Homage to Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, Side 1 is subtitled "The Late Sunset Chorus" and it features a bold late sunset with a wild pounding surf against the cliffs with the unusual opening to a jeweled cave. This stabile is 27 inches tall, it has 3 portals with three different images relative to the melody of Joy.
“The Artist at work on side 2 of The Ode to Joy Stabile”
Art in Action after years of thinking about the how and when. The why? The age old saying quoted by most good carpenters––measure three times and cut once because it's important. The more investment in the project one has the more important it is to wait until all the doubts are gone before executing the painting process––because it needs to be perfect, without blemish or bloopers––when it's a masterpiece an Artist doesn't get "do overs!" Rehearsals and lots of practicing the motions are done in studies and not on the Art itself––that way I get exactly what i was expecting.

This legend begins with Queen Nutt’s fingertips touching the water and the crayfish comes to life and
starts down the pathway heading towards the Citadel Divina AKA The Divine City
The Black & White tiles always symbolize “Endless Days and Nights” or Eternity. The dogs are howling
at the waining moon and temptation, disappointment, discouragement, or even despair are often found
on the travelers’ journey… The graveyard is just before the gates of the City of God, and everyone must
walk the path alone and take care to not squander their resources and life energies before they learn their
life’s lessons and accomplish their mission before they reach the gateway––Knowing all the while that the
nature of life is busy devouring itself all the while it is being born – symbolized by the constellation where
the Corvus the crow and the golden chalice reside in LEVIATHAN “here outlined in RED”

C@2004 - I did a series of Abstract drawings and colored them with permanent colored ink on 90 lb. Cold press 100% cotton rag paper
each one is unique and relative to all the others in that they were totally spontaneous and done without hesitation. They are all from the
same Strathmore 16"x 12" (406 mm x 305 mm) tablet. I think they are remarkable and very interesting––perhaps collectable.
Yes, they are a departure from my tedious deliberate and serious works but that's why they are so appealing to some collectors.
