Barbara Gerodimou was born in 1959. In 1978 she started her studies in the polytechnic of Wroclaw, Poland. After one year she stopped her studying in order to graduate from the School of Goldsmithery. She finished the 3 years practice with an array of jewels of her own design.
After a short collaboration with goldsmithery-shops in Athens she decided to dedicate her life to art-painting.
The gold characterizes her paintings. «The paintings without this complexity seemed to me, incomplete. The gold which binds so many human feelings is appropriate for my figures. Its magic reflects fully the power and the danger that is hidden in every human being. With gold we can paint to feel the atmosphere. Thoughts circulate the air, silent thoughts, thoughts that have been spoken many times ...» points out the artist.

The work of Barbara Gerodimou is a combined technique, rich in decorative elements, which is based on oil and gold. Lands surrended to a «fertile» silence, female figures deep in their thoughts and the sense of a dream present ­everywhere, makes her work unique, artistic «jewellery» of narrative abstraction with intense elements of symbolism.

Barbara Gerodimou is a member of International Association of Art and her studio is located in Marathon-Athens, Greece.
