Anisa Bazan

Born in 1982, Anisa Claire Bazan grew up in the countryside of Oregon and Northern California. She received her Bachelors of Fine Art in painting from the Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore MD, in 2005. She was the recipient of the Maryland Institute College of Art Scholarship (2004) and Maryland Institute College of Art recognition awards (2003, 2004).

Anisa's paintings are rooted in the study of light and form, color and perception, and the elusive nature of reality. Her work is about the intimate connection she feels with the world around her.

Anisa presently lives in the Sierra Nevada Foothills of Northern California with her husband Malachi and their Boston Terrier Mazarum.

She is currently represented by Xanadu Gallery in Scottsdale, AZ.

Buttermilk Bend is a gravel road that leads to a small farm in the Sierra Nevada Foothills of Northern California. I enjoy painting here tremendously, and when I have the privilege to do so, feel humbled and inspired by its ruggedness, light, and feeling of stillness in the air.
