Born in 1933 in Tokyo Prefecture, Hayashi is a Japanese-style painter. She began painting with ink wash after studying under Wan Xiao Yan at the age of 60. Having lost people close to her in World War II, she feels a strong desire for peace, and continues to proclaim its importance. Hayashi also occasionally leaves tanka poems composed by herself in her works.
