As an artist, I'm a restless spirit, and my work reflects that. I work in a wide range of styles from realism to expressionist to abstract art. My main bodies of work focus on expressionist dancers and realist still life work. I've also done a large series of dementia related art following my father's 7 year journey with the disease.
My realist paintings are created with oil on board and feature a wide range of subject matter. I'm new to realism, but I'm really enjoying the challenge and am excited to see where the style will lead me.
I seem to be obsessed with painting garlic, as this is the fifth one I've done within the last two years. There's something about the curves of the cloves, along with the subtle shifts in color in the papery skin that intrigues. Plus, you know, yum!
My great aunt, Ruth Page, and my grandmother, Beatrice Allen Page, were both professional dancers, and I had hoped to follow in their footsteps, but I had bad knees and no talent, so I had to give it up. When my grandmother passed away, I started painting dancers in honor of her, and now dance is back in my life in a healthy way.
