William Stalhuth

The abstract contemporary Venezuelan-American artist William Stalhuth was born in Caracas in 1967. Very early in his life he discovered his passion for the plastic arts, particularly painting. He studied Graphic Design in Caracas, where he began to create oil and acrylic paintings and then to commercialized them, many of them crossing borders into other major cities around the world such as Madrid, Buenos Aires and Bogota, among others. In 2004 he arrived to the city of Miami, where his passion for the abstract and contemporary painting began to awaken, due to the presence of this tendency in the surroundings. His work is inspired mostly by the richness of the textures, combining them with modern colors that compliment the vanguard architectures typical of a cosmopolitan city like Miami.

STONES

A stone ... if it is laying the middle of a road it may seem insignificant to some. But it all depends on who stumbles upon it.

"A warrior can turn it into a weapon, like David who defeated Goliath; or Michelangelo who saw the beauty of something as simple as a stone and transformed it into a masterful sculpture."

A stone can serve as a place to rest after a long journey or even as a toy for a child, and was what inspired a man to invent the wheel when he saw it rolling. Finally, a stone is what the person who comes across it wants it to be.

For me, it was a source of inspiration for these works that are here before you today.

A stone has the ability to radiate positive energy and has its own vibration. I wanted to portray the stone as a power generator; I wanted to capture the strength and beauty of a stone through its colors, turning something as simple as a stone into a work of art.
