Constantin Mihalache

Constantin Mihalache

Location: Romania

Constantin Mihalache was born on the 24th of April 1958 in Movileni village, Olt county, Romania. Even as a child he discovered his love for painting but he was unable to pursue his passion, due to an unfavorable socio-financial context and also the fact that he came from a family of simple people with a limited understanding of art.
Over the years, his path drove Constantin Mihalache even further from his childhood dream of becoming an artist, as he focused mostly on the pragmatic side of life.
Although at times he would find the proper context to create a few paintings, the artist was unable to dedicate his entire time to the creative activity. All of this until recently, when at the anniversary of his 50th birthday, Constantin Mihalache received from his two daughters as gift, a new set of brushes, canvas and paint. He has not stopped painting ever since. At the same time, he started to attend The Elementary Art School from Slatina, his current city of residence.
In a rather short period of a few years, Constantin Mihalache has managed to build an impressive portfolio of approximately 200 art works and was encouraged to publicly expose his paintings.
Numerous artistic approaches revealed that the style that best suits the artist is the expressionist-abstract one. Abstract art was the one that gave the artist the possibility to express his unique artistic perspective and gave him unlimited means to reach this purpose.
The artist found a refuge in abstract art and at the same time an alternate universe, in which colors and nuances are looked upon as the most appropriate words used to depict his life experience. Among the themes tackled in Constantin Mihalache’s paintings we can find nature, time & space, emotions etc.
The wide variety of the painting’s design is inspired by the careful observation of the textures and the palettes from the natural environment. The artist believes that the natural environment represents the source of life and energy for everything that surrounds us. Thus, through his artistic creations, Constantin Mihalache intents to evoke the eternal source - ‚mother nature’.
The artist uses spontaneous combinations of colors and shapes, this choice for unpredictability giving originality and genuineness to the images rendered on canvas, the main purpose being that of capturing the viewers interest. The artist uses the fluid technique, as well as the technique of paint mix directly on canvas, techniques the artist considers cast upon him the responsibility to harmonize the colors. At the same time, the natural flow asymmetry of the chromatic tones, along with the extemporaneous movements, lead to building a universal image.
So far Constantin Mihalache has held exhibitions in large cities such as: Bucharest - ‚Catch the Vision’ exhibition that took place between the 3rd and the 20th of December 2013 at the National Romanian Library, and Timisoara - ‚Symphony of colors’ exhibition that took place between the 30th of July until the 30th of August 2014 at the Popa Popa’s art Galleries. It is worth mentioning that the Maestro Popa Popa’s himself supported the artist in organizing the ‚Symphony of colors’ exhibition in Timisoara that was graciously held in the own art gallery of the Grand Caricaturist Maestro.
For the remaining of 2014 and the beginning of 2015, the artist has so far scheduled a number of three new exhibitions throughout the country as well as participation to numerous international artistic competitions.
