By following pure impulse, I have created a series of paintings that express my emotions, ideas, fears and dreams in the hopes of exploring the inner mystery that hides and evades the consciousness.
!My works are a demonstration of subconscious impulses that are both playful and sinister, combined with a kinetic sense of pattern and color. !
As I begin to paint, there is no plan. Sometimes I start with a face, but become inspired to enlarge the painting to include the body. The many animals, plants, snakes and insects are images that appear to me spontaneously as I paint. This is true of the flowers, the tears and blood, the flames, the outlines, and even the colors.!
!The freedom, play, emotion, and energy of the moment take over and guide each work of art. This demands I pay attention, stay in the moment, and enter into a new relationship with each painting. Each work of art becomes an absorbing mystery, with its unique possibilities, expectations, frustrations, and surprises.
!
As I move through the process, the risk of stepping into the unknown is ever present. By letting go of control and being open to whatever happens next, the process itself becomes the primary activity; the final art produced is of little importance.!
