Philip Chanin is a deaf artist living in Portland, Oregon. He has invented his own style of glitter encaustic medium and painting stylization techniques since he started selling paintings professionally at age 19 in Nashville, Tennessee.
A high school drop-out of a completely mainstreamed educational experience of the public school systems, Philip turned to painting for survival.
The youngest of 4 deaf children, he seeks to explain how he as a deaf lipreader experiences the world around him.

He has sold over 500 paintings in the last 10 years. His art is hung proudly across the American continent, in homes and villages, and offices too.
I work with acrylic paint and glitter as a medium. I love to paint on stretched canvas.
