Tina received her BA in Arts and Humanities from The Evergreen State College in 1983. She’s worked with a wide range of media including cast sterling jewelry (25 years), batik, mixed media collage, photography and bent wire sculpture. Her wire sculpture, primarily horses, have been collected nationally since 1994. Most recently, Tina works in oil bar paintings and cast bronze sculpture. Her imagery is drawn from nature as well as from her interest in archetypal and metaphoric imagery of dreams. She lives with her partner, Tom Thornton where they share a gallery of their work in their home in Cottonwood Canyon south of Bozeman.
Tina was a founding member of RUBEDO, an artist cooperative, from 1994 – 2000. She also taught elementary school art from 1992 – 2004, worked with head injured and elderly individuals as art instructor from 1990 – 1994, designed and taught: Drawing from Dreams 1985 – 87, and again in 1990. She has assisted the documentation of both of her parent's life works and continues to do so as the manager of the DeWeese Family Estate.
I like working with a lot of different materials...and I generally work in a series, exploring variations on a theme. I am inspired by processes and forms in nature, and find my focus shifting with the flux of the seasons, in perpetual return to materials and themes, toward a continuity of style and form.

Abstract from series of "line drawings", of which I've said, "The abstract paintings are derivative of early years of doodles in the margins of my class notebooks, when the forms that evolved offered pathways to step back from rational thought to give credence to the unnamed undercurrents of life that flowed beneath the surface of conscious and intentional focus."
