I WILL HOLD A SOLO EXHIBITION IN THE FOYER GALLERY AT THE LANDMARK ARTS CENTRE IN FERRY ROAD TEDDINGTON MIDDLESEX TW11 6HR FROM THE 4-15 TH NOVEMBER 2015 SHOWING A NEW SERIES OF SEA AND LANDSCAPES.

Influenced and inspired by the colours of our vibrant world, the main focus for me is experimentation with colour and light working in both the traditional media and slightly impressionistic genre - with a hint of realism added!

I am inspired when I look at the sea, where I live on the Dorset coast in southern England, and too, when I walk the stunning landscapes of The Chines and landscapes of The Purbecks. Painting these images, in oils, best allows me to capture the vibrancy of the colours around me with the knowledge that this medium will stand the test of time.

When the weather fails, then in the studio arranging the flowers and objects in my Still Life paintings with the tones and shadows controlled by careful lighting and watching the imagery slowly evolve to a flourish of the finished piece, is what inspires and drives me in this genre. These paintings, in a labour of love, take many hours to complete, in the 'Chiaroscuro' style classical manner of ancient times.

I have exhibited at The Brick Lane Gallery, Brick Lane London E1, The Chelsea Society of Art, Chelsea; The Menier Gallery London SE1; The Knapp Gallery, Regents Park London; The POSK Gallery, Hammersmith; Short-listed for the Royal Marine Artists Exhibition and ROI Exhibitions at Mall Galleries and The Royal West of England Art Exhibition in Bristol.
I was very proud to accept, when the Board of The SHASHOUA Foundation invited me to be part of their permanent exhibition, last shown in Cork Street London in late 2011. A significant private collection that continues to be exhibited globally.

Influenced and inspired by the colours of our vibrant world, the main focus for me is experimentation with colour and light working in both the traditional media and slightly impressionistic genre - with a hint of realism added!

TOGETHER IN OUR DREAMS “TOGETHER IN OUR DREAMS”

A romantic seascape at the end of the day - as always inspired by the coast land beaches of Poole in Dorset. This piece is created on a box canvas, with painted sides, using oil paints with an impasto technique to create texture and depth of colour. It is ready to hang immediately without the need of a frame.

NAKED LIGHTS “NAKED LIGHTS”

A calm palette of soft amethysts and blues to compliment the yellow 'lights' in the sky of this atmospheric seascape. Painted in oils and with a palette knife to add depth and texture to enhance the colours I have used. This piece is on a box canvas with painted sides and ready to hang without the necessity of a frame.

A BLOW ON STUDLAND “A BLOW ON STUDLAND”

A typical blustery day on Studland Beach with intrepid vacationers. Painted on box canvas with oils using a brush and palette knife for texture on the rocks and depth of colour to enrich and add vibrancy. The sides are painted - making framing entirely optional.

ANGELS ON THE WAKE “ANGELS ON THE WAKE”

A large oil painting of the sea inspired by the dramatic waves around the shores of Dorset. I love the different colours the light throws on the waters from dark blue to iridescent turquoises. If you love the sea or sailing this painting will delight and fill your wall.

THE AIR THAT WE BREATHE “THE AIR THAT WE BREATHE”

A beach seascape of the sands of Studland Bay overlooked by a distant couple. Painted in oils on a box canvas, using a brush and palette knife to create depth and texture to add a nostalgic and emotional charge to the piece. The sides are painted so it can remain unframed in the contemporary manner, or not, as preference dictates.

RHAPSODY OF THE SEA “RHAPSODY OF THE SEA”

An atmospheric image of rolling translucent waves which reflect the sunrise whilst rolling to the shore. Painted in oil on wood panel.

STILL LIFE

When the weather fails, then in the studio arranging the flowers and objects in my Still Life paintings with the tones and shadows controlled by careful lighting and watching the imagery slowly evolve to a flourish of the finished piece, is what inspires and drives me in this genre. These paintings, in a labour of love, take many hours to complete, in the 'Chiaroscuro' style classical manner of ancient times.

SPRING APPLE BLOSSOMS “SPRING APPLE BLOSSOMS”

A charming still life oil painting of a decorated vase with a wooden box of apples and apple blossom. Taking about many hours to complete, in the manner of the old masters building up layers and glazes to a translucent finish - this was a joy to produce and a labour of love too! It is painted on linen and hand stretched by me to ensure a perfect 'stretch', before framing. The frame is a top quality hand made moulding of museum grade, perfectly suiting the painting and is therefore ready for immediate hanging. The is a special oil painting for a discerning collector with an eye to future investment.

Materials used:
Old Holland Oil Colour paints.

MAGNOLIA STELLATA “MAGNOLIA STELLATA”

A still life oil painting of this beautiful flower set in a Bakelite jug with cork and apple. Painted in the classical manner achieved by an accurate under drawing and the layering of translucent glazes to give a quality photo realism finish. The quality frame with silver leaf on wood is included in the price and is ready to hang.

A (THOMAS) HARDY VIGNETTE “A (THOMAS) HARDY VIGNETTE”

A Still-Life painting of a collection of beautiful antique books by Thomas Hardy on a carved wooden shelf. Painted in the manner of the old masters with layer upon layer of glazes for a translucent finish in this ever increasing popular genre of realism, for a future investment. A difficult painting to photograph this detailed piece, with its rich colours, is greatly enhanced in real life. The piece has painted sides but I heartily recommend that it is framed by a quality framer in a frame to suit your choice for your home, in possibly the antique style. It will be carefully and safely packaged to ensure that it arrives as it leaves my studio.

ECHOES OF SPAIN “ECHOES OF SPAIN”

A Still Life oil painting of an antique jug and a fan with flowering blossoms and was painted from items found in old market in Mijas, Spain. This unique piece is completed in the manner of the old masters building up layers and glazes to a translucent finish and varnished, as in all my Still Life Collections. The museum quality burnished wood frame is included in the price and is ready to hang.
