Peter Mitten has a long standing interest in metal casting since an MFA in sculpture in 1976. Bronze, granite, iron, concrete and aluminum are typical choices of materials for outdoor sites. Currently teaching at Mt. San Jacinto College art/design department, and producing public and private works for placement throughout the lower 48 states, he's regarded as a regional artist of some reputation. Highly skilled in Fine Arts approaches to city, residential,garden and corporate collections, he continues to produce work in several studio facilities (foundry, fabrication, home studio) in southern California. Much of the work has been inspired by landscapes of the Southwestern U.S.. More recent work has emphasized space and modular variations of inter related shapes.
