Location: United States
I am an Abstract Expressionist painter from the diverse land of Guyana, located in South America, where flora and fauna abound and the land merits the name, "A Naturist Paradise." I am from a family of eleven siblings, whose union in marriage mimics the populace of my mother land - a true, multi-cultural society.
I was born on 13th September, in the capital city of Georgetown where one of the worlds' tallest wooden buildings, St. Georges Cathedral, stands. I spent most of my early years in different regions of Guyana, because of the various senior Government positions my Dad held. My first three years was spent in the bauxite mining town of Linden and then in Skeldon, Berbice where rice farms and mills coveted large expanses of the landscape. I attended All Saints primary school and, Berbice High school in the town of New Amsterdam. However, I returned to Georgetown to complete my secondary school education at Queens College; attended the Burrowes School of Art and earned a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Guyana.
I completed my degree in 2000, earning a distinction and returned after graduating as a Lecturer in Painting, Graphic Arts, Ceramics and Textile designing. At the University I organised exhibitions, textile designing workshops, and took students on tours, including the Faculty of Creative Arts annual pilgrimage tour to Tougaloo College Art Colony in Mississippi, for workshops and exhibitions.
My birth city, Georgetown holds many memories including serving in many Church positions and my participation as a volunteer for Youth Challenge International and Canadian Crossroads International Organizations; and Dorado Speed Swim where I competed regionally and internationally, as well as, worked as an assistant Swim Instructor.
I am presently in the United States and just completed an Exhibition at the SMITHVILLE MANSION ANNEX GALLERY in New Jersey. ( Feb 10 to April 30, 2022)
As far back as my memory takes me, I remember I have always had a love of art. I have always had a love of nature, animals, music, people, and above all my Creator!
Growing up in a family of eleven siblings has taught me so much about life, about love, about togetherness, about unity, about compromise, about peace, about unselfish acts of care, about happiness, about celebrating the good times as well as being there for each other during the not so good times, about support, about giving, about receiving, about struggles, about understanding..., about accepting...about...
Hence my paintings are a direct reflection of the energy I carry with me. I paint as I am directed. I paint from a place of love, from a place of peace, from a place of balance, from a place where I can express myself freely.
Painting for me is a creative mode of expression that has given me a platform to record my inner feelings, my impressions, my emotions, my life experiences and write in colour words I cannot express verbally.
I am still learning and growing daily. And I remain truly grateful for everyone who graces my life with their love and light.
It is motivating for me to reflect on one of my inner convictions which is, we are Pure Spirit Beings created with Love; A love that resonates within every fiber of our being. And when express, creates even more love, peace and serenity around us.
A love when nurtured moves us to react and interact with each other not only with respect, but in a most humble, kind hearted, caring, understanding, receiving and giving way.
My main focus at present is to reunite my inner impressions and feelings using colour, lines and simpled shapes. And my hope is that whatever I see in my minds eye, and feel in my heart, I will be able to transfer onto my canvases.
Blessings of love, light, joy, and peace I extend to you!
Name of Painting: "MAKING A DIFFERENCE"
Medium: Acrylic on Canvas
Size: 11" x 14"
Year Painted: 2021
This painting is about making a positive difference by doing small acts of kindness. No matter how insignificant that act may seem to you, it can make a HUGE difference in the life of someone else. Even more so to someone within your inner circle.
The inspiration for this painting came from the STAR THROWER story by Loren Eiseley. A story that touched my heart and moved me to put paint on canvas. Hence this is my visual interpretation of this motivational story .
This story brings to mind, many questions. Two of which are;
1.Are we willing to contribute by giving a helping hand, lending an ear, seeing a need and addressing it, or saying a kind and loving word to affect change?
2. Are we willing to be the change we wish to see for a more peaceful, loving and beautiful world? It starts with us.
We can create a world where we are all making positive differences in each other's lives. It does not matter how small that difference may be. Just be the change you wish to see.
I envision a world where love and respect, peace and harmony, joy and laughter, loyality and togetherness are prevalent on a daily basis.
Every one of us can do something helpful for another. And it does not necessarily have to be something big. It can a smile, a kind gesture, a kind word or helpful advice. It can be lending an ear, being supportive, offering encouragement and showing that you care.
Let make a difference even if it is in the life of one person. Let us start with those closest to us!
"THE STAR THROWER - by Loren Eiseley
Once upon a time, there was an old man who used to go to the ocean for exercise.
One day, the old man was walking along a beach that was littered with thousands of starfish that had been washed ashore by the high tide. As he walked he came upon a young boy who was eagerly throwing the starfish back into the ocean, one by one.
Puzzled, the man looked at the boy and asked what he was doing.
The young boy paused, looked up, and replied “Throwing starfish into the ocean. The tide has washed them up onto the beach and they can’t return to the sea by themselves,” the boy replied. “When the sun gets high, they will die, unless I throw them back into the water.”
The old man replied, “But there must be tens of thousands of starfish on this beach. I’m afraid you won’t really be able to make much of a difference.”
The boy bent down, picked up yet another starfish and threw it as far as he could into the ocean. Then he turned, smiled and said, “It made a difference to that one."
Name of painting: SPIRITUALLY GROUNDED!
Medium: Acrylic on canvas
Size: 18" x 24"
Year: 2021
We are who we are because of a combination of our past experiences, both positive and negative. We are who we are because of our inherent family genes, our society, and people around us. However we are who we are mainly because of our innate nature - A Spiritual Being.
The many influences that shapes us into who we are, is not new to us. Yet we many times tend to forget our innate nature and we seperate ourselves from who we really are and give in to ego and societal norms and behavior.
Remember these experiences from all aspects of our lives be it social, emotional, psychological, educational, religious, financial struggles, relationships, influences, etc, does not define us nor limit us in anyway. These are just attachments we are associated with and a means to SEE our true nature as we learn, grow and use these experiences as stepping stones on our journey to becoming our best earthly selves.
Therefore when we learn to let go and let be, we find more love and peace in any given situation. Note; our life experiences allows us to open our eyes, discover who we are, learn our inherent nature and then master the art of our earthly existence.
Let us make a conscious effort to live our best lives by starting to recognize that which does not serve our best and higher selves and elimiate them from our lives. This mean letting go of all forms of what we find toxic in our lives, even if it might mean letting go of those who only tend to bring hurt, pain and unhappiness in our lives.
Name of Painting: "SOUL! ENERGY! INVOCATIONS"
Medium: Acrylic on canvas
Size: 16" x 20"
Year Painted: 2021
This painting speaks for itself. This is just my opinion.
When I started painting this beautiful artwork, my thoughts and feelings were based upon my past, history, family, ancestry, and thoughts about how we can travel through time inwardly and reconnect to an infinite access of knowledge and wealth.
This brought up many topics such as reincarnation, communicating with past Souls, existence of Multiple Universes, Parallel Universes, Mind-Body-Soul connections, etc.
Meditation allows us to look within, to find true peace and happiness, to expand Love for we are Love! To see the World and everything that is going on as it is, without interjecting our biases. Just letting things be as they are and examining them for deeper growth and enlightenment.
Many of the images within this painting just appeared as if out of thin air. Yes it was how the paints merge together and created formations and images I just enhance. Then again, was I painting what I was viewing within myself or copying what was happening in another place, in another dimension, and recording as directed? Whatever it was, I am just very much at peace with the end result!
Blessings of Love and Peace to you all!
Name of Painting: VULNERABLE AND EXPOSED!
Medium: Acrylic on Canvas
Size: 16" x 20"
Year: 2021
This Painting is called, "VULNERABLE AND EXPOSED! Is about allowing ourselves to be who we are without fear. It is about ridding ourselves of any inherent fear we acquire as we develop, interact and grow from our experiences.
It is about not being afraid to love others and allow others to love us and accept us just the way we are, as we love and accept them, just the way they are.
It is about connecting to all aspects of who we are, as we connect to nature and the environment.
Being Vulnerable is allowing our trust to develop. Allowing our faith to grow. Allowing our heart to love. Allowing ourselves to be Exposed, knowing that in life we live with all types of risks. Nevertheless, if we do not expose ourselves emotionally, as we love another, and allow another person to love us, we miss out on the True Beauties that life has to offer.
Name of Painting: BLEEDING EARTH!
Medium: Acrylic on canvas
Size: 16" x 20"
Year: 2021
This Painting is about the Earth and what is going on around us on a day to day basis.
The Earth is in a pain and is bleeding from all that has been done to it, be it from natural disaster to mans destructive behavior, wars, deforestation, polution, exploitation in all forms and carefree attitude to all living things.
The Earth is bleeding because of the pandemic and all of the deaths and sufferings. The Red we see all over in this painting is also significant of the Earth crying blood because of the immense pain she is in.
This painting is taking a closer look at the Earth and holding her very gently in our arms - surrounding her in a lovingly embrace and trying to sooth her to ease her pain.
We can all do our part no matter how small it is, so that we can help the Earth to recover and heal. Lets start by lovingly embracing each other and caring for and being there for each other so that we can become stronger inorder to make a bigger difference in helping the Earth stop bleeding to stop.
“ONE THOUSAND REASONS TO FLY!”
Name of Painting: ONE THOUSAND REASONS TO FLY!
Medium: Acrylic on canvas.
Size: 20"x 24"
Year: 2022
"ONE THOUSAND REASONS TO FLY", is the name that kept popping into my head as I was seeing images of birds emerging around the main image and focal point of this painting. The main image of a figure with arms out, as if trying to fly, also emerged as the colours flowed and took shape.
I was even more mesmerized when the paint dried and other images started to show themselves. It was as if I was communicating on a spiritual plane as the energy directed my paint brush and my vision cleared. I started to preceive with clarity what was unfolding before me; A painting with an in depth meaning that gave rise to a greater reason to look more closely at life with an analytical eye.
A bird's eye view of looking at life from every angle and from a higher vantage point. Thus allowing us to stay focused and be prepared for what lies ahead. Seeing life from every angle means seeing life's Gifts and celebrating these Gifts with an immense joy.
We all have many reasons to fly, therefore let us spread our wings and rise higher. And as we rise higher, let us celebrate life in fullness with each other in loving and caring ways, a thousand times over.
We will give Love, for with love comes respect and understanding. With respect and understanding comes acceptance. And with acceptance peace and happiness follows. Therefore let us live each day with limited regrets!
Thank you for taking Flight and joining me on this beautiful journey as we find One Thousand Reasons To Fly!
"DESTITUTE YOUNGSTERS" I gave to a series of Paintings I did in Art College for my final year project.
It was an eye opening and humbling experience for me as I worked as a volunteer, with children who lived on the streets. My aim was to bring to light the horrors, dangers and hardships these children were facing on a daily basis.
My Street Kids series did just that because the media interviewed me and the painting "The Dream" as well as my voluntary work and stories of a number of the street children were featured in the News and in Newspapers.
THE DREAM - In the eyes of every child who lives on the street and hopes for a better life; we find a waterfall of pain and tears that in a blink of an eye, turns to crystals of inspiration and belief, is depicted in this extraordinary piece of artwork.
In this painting, the young child folds up in a cardboard box, escaping into his imaginary world where he finds comfort and peace.
Yet, the symbolism of the empty pot depicts a lack of food, hunger and starvation; a harsh and cruel street life of begging of the streets that is constricted with poverty. The child's feet ia marred with bruises, disfigured, battered and swollen with cuts from running on a line of broken dreams. And yet, in his mind, he has found refuge from his scared body and anguish from a broken heart.
In his rags for clothing, from under the sounds of defeat arises a warrior, with iron wings and a mind like a steel trap that has visions of living a life abundant in love and victory. A new life, which will carry him home to a place of security, compassion and freedom.
"The Dream" echoes sounds of kindness, endless play and defeat of cries, now are sounds of laughter and play, where he will no more shiver in the night from fear of a broken life and a broken body.
Life on the streets is an extremely dangerous and very harsh for every child who lives there. It is a devastating reality that no child, should have to endure.
In this painting, the youngster sits in deep, yet saddened thoughts of his painful reality of severe verbal and physical abuse, mental anguish and physical agony from unspeakable sexual exploits, degrading jobs that many times he does not get paid for. He sails on a river of tears that stems from a broken and abusive home.
Memories that he can never escape from, only when in a shut of an eye he escapes for a brief second to envision a life of normalcy where love and care envelops him like a warm blanket that protect him from the cold.
Through blood shot eyes filled with tears and a broken body covered with scars and bruises, he sits on his cardboard box bed, the empty pot half buried as he envisions a glimmer of hope. Hope that one day he will be rescued and taken to a place of security and protection, with a warm bed and home cook meals from a family who knows and shows love and compassion on a daily basis.
No more running on a line of broken dreams. No more anguish from a broken heart. No more cuts, bruises, disfigured, battered and swollen with recent scars body and no more rags for clothing; But a Phoenix rising from ashes with strong beautiful wings, to carry him far away to a new life abundant in love and victory.

Spirituality to my limited understanding is ALL encompassing; and it is about Full AWARENESS of all aspects of life. That is the emotional, physical, psychological, social, sexual, and all aspects that affects us internally as well as externally. It affects our frame of mind - the way we see each other, the way we process our thoughts, and the way we respond to others.
It is about gaining a clearer perspective so that you can bring balance to our lives. It is centered in Love and Peace and full acceptance of who we are on every level of our existence.
My present series of paintings refects my search into what moves us and why we say and do the things we do. It is a focus on me trying to understand life from every aspect be it religious, economic, social, scientific, or spiritual.
I am finding true beauty in when we let go, and let be. Living in the moment as I fully accept me as I AM, on every level, in every situation, and with everyone. This is a MAJOR challenge and HUGE struggle. Nevertheless, my journey continues.

“SPIRITUAL BALANCE! IN BLISSFUL TIME!”
This painting is about finding the perfect balance in life and so I gave it the name - SPIRITUAL BALANCE. It is about finding balance in life via our spiritual connection to all aspects of who we are and our connection to the nature and all forms and aspect of life.

I am finding true beauty in when I let go, and let be. Living in the moment as I fully accept me as I AM, on every level, in every situation, and with everyone. Everyday and every waking moment present an opportunity to learn, grow and progress towards a life of fullness where love, happiness and peace is present in every moment. However, at times this is a MAJOR challenge and HUGE struggle. Nevertheless, my journey continues.
“INNER CONNECTIVENESS! IT IS, AS IS!”
Growing Spiritually to me is all about letting go and letting be. Living in the moment while being aware of the moment.
We cannot separate who we are from how we are because of outside influences. Our past has made us into who we are today. Yet at the core - we are as is. I believe that as, Pure Spirit we are a totality of ALL. It just that different circumctances and different encounters bring about varied actions and reactions as we allow that specific act to surface.
Everything is already within us. It's just that we are unaware of it. Hence the conscious and the subconscious are both enterwined for we become aware of parts of our subconscious when it gets triggered by events in our daily lives.
Who we are as PURE SPIRIT is who we are as OUR TRUE SELF. I AM = PURITY OF SPIRIT = OUR TRUE SELF!
Who we are has NOTHING to do with what we look like, how we dress and carry ourself, our social status, career, money, sexuality, material things, how we sound/our voice, the way we walk, etc. We are all different in our choices and preferences; the way we commuincate, touch, feel, think, process our thoughts, act, react and interact with each other. Yet these are layers that we identify with and creates our persona, and how we see ourselves and see others.
When we STRIP all the layers away and remove all of the negatives; fear, hatred, violence, abuse(both physical and verbal), racism, discrimination, unfairness, explotation, etc; things that does not serve our higher self, we are left with LOVE, TRUE BEAUTY, PEACE and HARMONY! A place we can then RESONATE and live in TRUE BLISS!

This is a painting from my earlier series, when music coloured my world and affected me in a profound way. Hence it is fitting that I chose to use primary and secondary colours, simple shapes and lines to bring to life a world bright with colourful radiance.
Colours and music motivates me to create and has been among many other factors in life that makes me want to sit and get lost in a world that's so peaceful, calming and reflective.
A world where beauty in all shapes and forms takes hold and makes for a more fulfilling life. We all have our calling and when we do what we are meant to do in this world, you feel the difference from deep within. It is a peacefulness that transcends this world and a feeling of blissful love, satisfaction and contentment.
A feeling that makes you feel complete and at peace and in peace with all that exists. It is a feeling of being in the world, on top of the world, a part of the world, not of this world, seeing the world as it is, yet accepting and not accepting the things of this world. Words cannot describe the feeling I am trying to describe, but you know this feeling once you have experience it.
I invite you to share with me how you would describe this feeling. That is if you so choose to.
Thank you so very much for joining me on this blissful journey!
This painting from my earlier series, is callled GUITAR LESSON! I painted thise when music coloured my world and affected me in a profound way.
A life filled with harmonious rhythms and sounds that takes you away on a blissful journey.
I love music so it is very natural that I paint while I listen to all types of music depending on what my feelings at that time calls for.
This painting is from my early series and a period when I use bright colours, simple shapes and lines to create and express my feelings on canvas.
My influence during that period was music and life. Nevertheless, my spiritual connection to all aspects of life is always interwoven into the fibers of my growth. Hence I cannot separate one from the other because it is the total summation of experiences that has fuel my creativity.
The elated feelings that music brought into my life affected me in an extremely positive way. And music still affects me deep within the recesses of my inner being and carries me on a blissful journey. Now many songs take me back to different periods of my life and helps me to appreciate all of my experiences.
My plan was to have prints done of a few pieces of my past works, to include in an exhibiton to show the progression of my painting style. However, the prints were blurred, and I could not use it. So I decided to retouch the prints, creating a slightly different version of the original.
