Anya LAUCHLAN Paintings

My work is based on a School of Paris tradition, I use fluid lines, strong colours and well balanced composition. The main body of work is realistic- impressionist, but I am not a stranger to abstract painting where I also prefer strong colour and ornamental, measured comosition. My subject matter varies from still life to landscapes, portraits, etc., whatever takes my fancy. This must stem from a rigorously followed tradition of keeping a sketchbook with me wherever i go, since 9 years old, and later being trained as an editorial illustrator.

Quiet Afternoon “Quiet Afternoon ”

A city scape from Normandy, France, a quiet street witha cathedral in the distance and a Calico Cat crossing the road near a STOP sign. there is an alternative name to this painting "Une vie N°5" a wink to the nine lives of a cat living dangerously, and a French luxury of Channel N°5? as the feline looked so elegant in her whte, black and red coat.
