After making oil paintings on canvas for some years I got in 1995 the idea to paint with different colors of transparent paint.
After experimenting with different surfaces, wood turned out to be the right base. Wood creates depth in such a painting because the structure of wood influences the emergence of new transparent color tones. And as a bonus the wood grain remains visible.
And so I started creating home art that I wanted to last and give people joy for a long time.

With El Toro, I wanted to create a decorative box for precious keepsakes , looking like an angry bull ready to attack.
I used the picture of a bull to determine the right distance between the nose, the eyes and the horns. To create the illusion that he is bending his head down, the box is higher at the back then at the front. Different accents in eyes give different expressions. The expression of this bulls eyes are fierce full. The hoof of his left front leg is placed back words and gilded. Like he is scraping his hoof with power and impatience. The 2 gilded balls under his belly represent his testicles, his testosterone. All together a creature to be careful with.
The color of the inside of the box is painted blood red. Is it his inwardly boiling blood or the red cloth of the toreador that is challenging him ?

Making different combinations with the same shapes leads to new ideas. This wooden art sculpture is the third copy from the 'Eyes' series.
Sunglasses are a useful camouflage tool for famous people who do not want to be recognized in the public space. And preferably large-sized sunglasses. The frame of the plastic supersized party sunglasses is covered with a red / blue oxide metal. The arms of the glasses rest on the ears under a hair curl. The eyes of Incognito can still be seen through the light blue glasses. This whole is placed on a high base with a brass rod, making it a floor object. The blue color of the lenses has been incorporated into the modest painting of the base.
