Theresah Ankomah (b. 89) is an artist who lives and works in Kumasi. She graduated with Bachelor Degree in Fine Arts - BFA (Sculpture) in 2014 from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, Ghana, where she is currently pursuing her MFA.
Her body of works criticize the traditional concepts of social structures and the idea of norms, which has been given a certain prestigious level in our community.
However, for some time now, her focus have shifted to the re-indexing of the concept of craft within our contemporary era.She uses kenaf as a material to investigate the complexities of craft in our capitalist system in relation to the geopolitical issues of trade. In her encounter with the public, her installations explore the infinite possibilities of craft object and processes within a contextual discourse of dual-citizenship and cross-cultural relationship on the basis of trade.
