Gbemileke Sanya (Lechito) was born about three decades ago in Lagos, he grew up with his family at Abule-egba Lagos. Gbemileke studied art in Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Ogbomosho, Oyo state where he was awarded his first degree of B-Tech in art in 2016, he served in 2017 under NYSC program for a period of one year, started as a full time studio artist in 2017, worked as IT student at universal studios of art, national art theatre Onikan, Lagos, he also worked with House of Bezalel studios on contracts for the celebration of Lagos @50 and other graffiti and outdoor paintings, he did his first group exhibition S.A.F.E at ketu, Lagos. He was taught by Abiodun Olaku as well as Joshua Nnmesirionye and other full time Nigeria artist.
His works capture in-depth analysis of culture, traditions, mystical and religious value, also his works depict mood and happenings in our society. His techniques of paintings are acrylic, oil and other found objects convey to his viewers beauty of life through his works. His paintings are vibrant and rich in hue, he express himself through art to his wide audience, Gbemileke's art evolve as everything around him changes, in other words this is evident in his works, Influenced by music, nature and beauty of our heritage as blacks.
