Maya Malioutina’s work is as layered and dynamic as her life
experiences. Born into a family of physicians, she initially pursued a
path in science, attending the Pre-Med post-bac program at Columbia
University. However, after a year, she realized her true calling was in
painting. This synthesis of intellectual curiosity, artistic passion,
and diverse cultural experiences has shaped her distinctive approach to
art.
Having lived in multiple European countries and
having traveled extensively, Malioutina has been profoundly influenced
by the transient nature of time, culture, and place. These experiences
have deepened her appreciation for imperfection and impermanence—key
elements that permeate her work.
Malioutina holds
degrees in English and Russian literature and Writing. Her background in
literature informs her visual storytelling, imbuing her paintings with a
poetic, meditative quality. Her work has been widely recognized and
collected, featured in numerous exhibitions, and highlighted in esteemed
publications.
In 2013, she was featured in Acrylic
Illuminations: Re-active and Luminous Acrylic Painting Techniques by
Nancy Reyner, who praised her innovative use of gold leaf and antiquing
methods. She was also a Featured Artist in Manhattan Arts
International’s Artist Showcase Gallery and was included in Professional
Artist Magazine in 2013 and 2015. Additionally, she is represented by
UGallery.com and was a featured artist for Williams Sonoma in 2018.
Malioutina’s work has been exhibited widely, with collectors throughout the United States and Europe acquiring her paintings.
