I am a musician and a photographer which places me in the long list of musician - photographers, the most notable of whom are Ansel Adams and Paul Coponigro. But those are just the two most well known. There are many of us. Music and photography seem to be intimately intertwined.
I hold a music degree from Southern Nazarene University and am an active performer on the French horn as well as being a high school orchestra director. I learned photography while still in high school and have extensive experience with film, from 35mm to 4x5. During my film years, I was a devoted Zone System practitioner with many years of darkroom experience in both color & B&W. As digital has taken over my work, I miss the faint orange glow and the smell of acetic acid and still prefer traditional wet prints for monochrome.
I have covered much of Oklahoma on assignment for Oklahoma Today magazine and maintain an extensive catalog of photographs of Oklahoma including Western and Native American subjects. One of my favorite photographic destinations is the Wichita Mountains National Wildlife refuge in southern Oklahoma. Other subjects include rural and urban scenes from Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas, New Mexico, Colorado and Alaska My photographs have been published in regional and national publications, on calendars, in textbooks and in many other places.
These are a few of my favorite images.
