Anne Maizia is a Toronto-based abstract & figurative artist painter. Originally from Brussels, she moved to Manhattan, NY where she got the inspiration to do art. She attended various art classes, primarily at the Art Students League of NYC, but also at the Fashion Institute of Technology (F.I.T.) and Parsons School of Design. She explored different mediums such as life drawing, fashion drawing, sculpture, jewelry design, photography and pottery.
After moving to Houston in 2009, she pursued her painting full-time. She first enrolled at the Art League of Houston, then become a student at the Glassell School of Art. Anne predominantly uses the medium of acrylic painting, does mixed media, printmaking, watercolors, collages. In 2011, she had her first solo show. Since then, she has done various group exhibitions. She also did children’ s book illustration and a cover for a CD.

I like to paint glimpses of people, figures or blurry portraits on abstract backgrounds. I have this theory that people have a secret part of themselves they don't want to reveal. In my paintings, you never get the entire picture however, I alway try to show an emotion, a mood (probably the one I was in when I painted).
This is a 30'' x 40'' acrylic painting. My figures are inspired by Giacometti's sculpture. It is about moving forward.
