For life in general, call me an optimist ... unsparing candor and honesty. I'm passionate about things that interest me. And I am one of the people who love the why of things.

As artist, every time when I start to create an artwork, I already have a concrete idea in my mind. What is then going to happen? Not I am doing the painting, the painting is creating me! The result is – without surprise – definitly different. All the paintings, which were done this way, became my favorites. It is always important to find the right balance of release and to allow. Not the easiest exercise of life - but a garanty for big surprises.
I love it to engage myself in the unknown, to work with different materials and colors. My work is representing my feelings. And every person that knows me would confirm, these feelings are tremendous.

Ursi Spaltenstein (born1959, Zurich, Switzerland) is an artist who works in a variety of media. She was painting and drawing during her whole life in her own visual language. From the first spontaneously and autodidactically acquired know-how, art was always a hobby. Also over all the years, she was working as a professional radio host, as a journalist and as TV presenter, whereby she reached a celebrety status in Switzerland.

Since 2008, Ursi Spaltenstein was able to dedicate all her energy to art. She started with painting in a figurative style and then turned towards to abstract painting. In addition, she discovered Calligraphy, the art of writing with beauty. The first imaginative lettering designs and calligraphies of words, poetry, words of wisdom appeared.

By applying a poetic and often metaphorical language, she creates intense personal moments masterfully created by means of rules and omissions, acceptance and refusal, luring the viewer round and round in circles.

With her artwork, she is increasingly gaining importance of the national and international market for contemporary art.

Ursi Spaltenstein currently lives and works in Spreitenbach, Switzerland.
