Artist Statement
Through my work, I want to identify and convey the emotional impression I feel about a subject. I paint in oil for its rich colours and creamy texture. The process to produce the effect that I covet is very gestural but controlled.
I am passionate about painting landscapes in all seasons, especially wetlands, with its meandering waterways and its reflections projected on them.
My paintings are intended expressionist, with textured brushstrokes that draw the focus where I want to lead the viewer. They are imprints of atmospheres, sometimes dramatic, where the pictorial quality tends to the semi-abstract to create an impression of the subject, leaving to the viewer his share of dreams.
