At a very young age I always knew I wanted to be an artist. I started selling my artwork as early as seventeen. By the time I was 35 I was selling through local art shows and galleries. By 1984 I opened my own art gallery and through many shows I won many awards for both my paintings and my calligraphy. I taught, did demonstrations, created logos, did commissions and soon developed a following in the United States and in other parts of the world.
I always loved Georgia O'Keefe so I transformed my little floral miniatures to large, BOLD, bright flowers on canvas in acrylics. It was perfect for my new home in Phoenix and soon I was selling them in local galleries in Scottsdale, Arizona. One of my paintings was in "The Best of Scottsdale" in 2005.
My artwork has been published in a book in Turkey and one of my pieces is on exhibit in the Smithsonian.

I still paint every day and do some calligraphy on request. I do accept commissions with both.

This painting has a touch of humor in the title as well as the painting. A little bird has taken up residence in this sborro cactus and over the entrance is a little sign saying "Home Sweet Cactus". How lucky is he to have such a desert view with the mountains in the background. At the bottom of the cactus is some tall grass that was done with a palette knife to give the painting some texture.

I'm always amazed when I visit the Grand Canyon. I've wanted to incorporate it into a painting or at least some part of it. This is it. Grand Canyon Sky is my attempt to making the sky as grand as the canyon. I love it. The colors are bright. I wanted the viewer to feel as though they were standing on a cliff over the canyon. They can look down or up... for a dramatic view.

I love getting up close and personal with flowers. Here I can show the pure beauty of that flower. Some flowers bloom at night and die at dawn. Many people never get to see them. I always loved Georgia O'Keefe but my style puts more color into each painting. I developed a thick edge of paint to put at the petals edge to play on light and shadows, which give the flower a 3-D feeling. I love staging my flowers as if they were posing for the viewer.

This painting has my 3-D edges on all the petals and the centers of the flowers are done with very heavy paint. This makes the flowers pop off of the canvas. Background is done in black. The night blooming cactus flower bloom at night for only one night and then the pod closes in the morning and it dies. The flowers a huge. They are roughly 8 to 12 inches across. Once you have seen them you will never forget them.

This is truly a "beauty and the beast" plant. The cactus is covered in thorns and is unattractive. When it get ready to bloom, a long arm grows out the the cactus and a bud forms at the end. The flowers are TOO beautiful! They have petals that look like feathers, so delicate. I wanted to capture the beauty of these flowers in this painting by not painting the cactus. Created in 2010. “Prickly Pear Cactus~Eye Candy”
The prickly pear cactus is mostly green but at certain times of the year you will see colors of pink, yellow, orange and hints of purple. I was so taken by this that I just had to paint it.
I wanted the viewer to feel what I felt when I first saw it. It's like a Party in the Desert! In my painting you can think they are balloons or jelly beans or just "eye candy". All the colors of the southwest on a backdrop of sandy rocks you see in Sedona Arizona.

I've always wanted to do a painting with some part of the Grand Canyon. Here I made the sky just as dramatic as the canyon.
