Super Kiss, 30 x 30, oil on Linen
I just learned that "Super Kiss" was honored with a First Place award at the Evergreen, CO Center for the Arts "Love out of Bounds" valentines show.
This painting is another trompe l'oeil in my Chocolate Kiss series. This includes a panel from a Superman Comic and of course that's Lois Lane giving the Super Kiss.

Kodak, 20 x 20, oil on linen
My father was an enthusiastic amateur photographer starting his hobby back when he was a kid. I have many of his camera. These vintage cameras are a work of art on their own and I can't believe I've never used one in a painting.

I had a great time painting this photorealism still life. The striped background with the red and green striped candy and glass atlas jars along with their reflections was a wonderful challenge. I'm pleased with the results.

“Gumballs and Peppermint by K Henderson”
Gumballs and Peppermint, oil on canvas, 24 x 36
This is another in my series of striped paintings. Here is a striped bowl with gumballs and a polka dot bowl with peppermints. I got this plate at a thrift store and I believe it is handmade.
My favorite part of the painting is the stripes reflecting in the bowls

I had intended to photograph this work in progress but my camera went to Camera Heaven leaving me no way to take pics. (Actually, my camera just went to California to be repaired).
This painting of a Derby (or Bowler), a walking Cane with a silver handle, a pair of kid gloves and a hat box is the first in a new series of Hats and Luggage.

Summerfall, 36" x 30", oil on canvas
Summerfall is another of my contemporary realism oil paintings featuring my vintage toys and ceramics. The main figure is the Indian Princess marionette, Winterspring Summerfall, from the Howdy Doody television show. Also included is a vintage scarf, a chalk figure (the kind you used to be able to win at carnivals) and a mule from an 1800’s mechanical toy.

“Forever Brave by K Henderson”
Forever Brave,12" x 9" oil on board.
This little guy is one of my favorite vintage ceramic figures. He’s a little warrior with a tomahawk.
He is standing in front of a wool blanket. Can you tell that I love the color Red?
As I’ve said before, I love painting the different textures. The roughness of the wool, the shiny hardest of the ceramic and the satin reflections on the table all come together to make a nice contrast.

“Coffee and Strawberries by K Henderson”
Coffee and Strawberries,24" x 18" on canvas.
It's Strawberry season again! I love strawberries. I think they are the prettiest of all the fruits (until cherry season. Then they are the prettiest fruit)
The coffee pot is a 19th century family heirloom which has been past down to me. I chose this subject because I like painting reflections in silver.

“It was Neither More Nor Less Than a Pig by K Henderson”
It was Neither More Nor Less Than a Pig, 18 x 24, oil on cradled board
The title comes from a line in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
The white porcelain was more of a challenge than I thought it would be. And the chocolate pig is living in my freezer. I don't have the heart to eat him after he put in such hard work as a model.

Space - O, oil on linen, 30 x 24
Here's another painting of a Vintage 'School Crayon' box. The boy and girl are in a Flying Saucer against a red background. These space age artists have done a great job coloring inside the lines (mostly)

The Dentist, oil on board, 10 x 8
This is from my series of small, fun trompe l'oeil oil paintings of cards from vintage games.
The Dentist is from the 1938 game 'Who is the Thief'.
Note: No vintage card was harmed in the making of this painting. I scan my cards and print them on card stock. I them take the print and rip, smudge, stomp and tape to give them the Character that I want.
