I was born in the former Soviet Union. My father was an Executive Director of a State Theater and my mother was a former professional musician and teacher, this explains why my journey to the art world started so early on. Throughout my childhood, I was surrounded by the atmosphere of theater and classical music. I had the pleasure to meet and learn from extremely talented and highly professional artists. Specifically, I liked to spend a lot of time looking at how people created costumes, stage makeup, and backdrop design for plays. This inspired my perseverance in the art world. The next step was to get a quality education. I received my bachelor's from highly respected Hamza State School of Art and Music in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. While, being a full-time college student, I couldn't let my self-drift away from my hobby. Despite a very tight schedule and significant workload in college, throughout all those years I worked part time in my father's theater costume department. Upon the collapse of the Soviet Union and rapidly deteriorating nationalistic condition in Tashkent, I left Uzbekistan and came to the United States in 1992.
In my early years working as an artist, I concentrated on leather-based materials. I began my work in mixed media art in the early 1990's. My visit to Israel in the early 2000's played a pivotal role in my professional development. My friend, an archaeologist, took us to a historical site where they discovered ancient mosaics. I learned about mosaics back in college, however, what I've seen completely changed my opinion about this unique art. I couldn't wait to get home and start my first mosaics project. I spent a year learning, searching, and developing the skills needed to work in this field. That's when I realized that this form of art is underrated in modern society. I wanted to bring a brand new twist to my art by using modern materials, mixing them with minerals, semi-precious stones, modern glass tiles, resin and 3-D sculptural techniques. I did numerous design projects with private clients. I also create custom made décor such as mirrors, vases, sculptures, candleholders, custom-made kitchen islands, fireplaces, arcs, columns, etc.
Now, I'm looking forward to incorporating in my work new technics especially ones based on new technological developments. As Albert Einstein said "“Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life's coming attractions.”
