Peter Vial (NL, 1957) has been working as a self-taught visual artist since 2007. Curiosity and freedom are the key elements in his work. He started out as a painter but later shifted the accent of his work to (mixed media) sculptures, in which mosaics play a major role. The mosaics themselves are never a goal, but always a means to create new textures. His work is characterized by innovation and experimenting with new combinations of materials and techniques.
Peter’s artistic motto is: ’Watch from your gut, listen to your soul.’
The idea behind it all is open-minded freedom combined with an intuitive approach: ‘You pick a starting point, take a first step and all of the others will naturally follow from this first one.’ The result is always highly expressive and full of vitality. Peter takes his inspiration from nature, architecture, personal (spiritual) growth and contemporary social developments.
Peter is living and working in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

The sculpture represents:
· the devastation in the refugees’ country of origin
· people’s opposing views on the refugees
· the love and hate that becomes apparent in our society
Reflections no. 1: House for Sale
Our house is still there, but there’s a lack of maintenance, care and vision for the future.
We want to see immediate results and we contemplate (too) little on the future, on growth and care. Not as a parent would for his or her child.

Reflections no. 2: What's Going On?
The foundation of our house is love. Reflection is necessary, but insights may lose their value if they are not acted upon. The red of love changes because of the many contrasts in the red of blood. What remains is a bare branch – who knows whether it will ever bloom again?
