Location: Japan
Born in Fukushima Prefecture in 1942, Ito graduated from Woman's Junior College of Fine Art. Using images of warabe (children from the olden days of Japan) as her motif, Ito employs her own unique method using gansai paints from traditional Japanese nihon-ga painting to add brilliant patterns and multitudes of color, creating phantasmagoric scenes filled with happiness. Ito has held numerous solo exhibitions both in Japan and overseas.
