Deseré Pressey is a 34 year old native Albertan, who has co-founded three successful businesses over the last decade. Each business venture had a common thread of being creative in nature. However, she has always felt a strong pull towards her true passion for painting, and made the decision to cease resisting her true calling years ago. In the embrace of art, Deseré now dedicates a majority of her time to painting, and her skill of the visual language has been welcomed by the creative community with open arms. Deseré Pressey's work has been exhibited in multiple galleries, and her steady rise as an emerging artist has caught the attention of collectors & purchasers on an international level. Deseré is an active member of the Calgary Arts & Culture scene and runs ongoing monthly events for patrons musicians and visual artists alike. Desere attributes much of her success to her full embrace of new opportunities as they arise, which she feels aids in sustaining a connection with the creative intelligence that unites us all. Following bliss..so that others may follow theirs.
“ I am interested in exploring the terrain of my paintings as they unfold before me. As an intuitive painter, I enjoy the journey of my work, and feel that allowing freedom for a painting to wander is a metaphor for my ongoing personal evolution towards allowing my life to unfold as a more fluid experience” -Desere Pressey
'WILD AWAKE' The Abandon of Safe & Surrender to Self
Inglewood Fine Arts Gallery Exhibition March 2015
When I start a painting I do not plan or sketch. I simply begin. I am inspired both by life, and process. The drum of ink dancing across a fresh stretch of canvas. A slow kaleidoscope bleeding into the weave. Each stroke of my brush is an experience, and the building up and scraping away of layers is an event. The exploration of the topography constructed by my wandering is an act of release. I paint to let go. In the letting go..There I am. This collection is my waking up to the wild part of myself that slumbers no more. Vehement emotions often course through my body, teasing a chatter in my mind. My paintings are a clear language evoked from confusion. A window to a higher love. A place beyond logic. They are an affirmation of oneness, and my place in this world. Life makes more sense to me, when I paint. -Desere Pressey
