Biography

After many years of living and painting under the huge sky of New Mexico, Stephen Poling moved to Minnesota where he currently lives in an arts community along the Mississippi River.

Growing up in Minneapolis, Poling’s love of art was nurtured by his frequent visits to the Minneapolis Institute of Art and the Walker Art Center, both of which he describes as being cultural lifelines to the bigger world.

Inspired to be an artist, he made his way to California to obtain a foundation in painting by attending the Academy of Art in San Francisco. Later, moving to New York City, he continued his study at the Art Students League where he learned a traditional approach to painting.

He has been enthusiastically pursuing his dream and practicing his art ever since.
