Born in Kyoto Prefecture in 1938, Haruo Saito is a self-taught painter that did not begin to paint until the age 76. He creates landscapes focused on gratitude and prayer for connections between people. Saito feels that one-off works and restrictions such as not making new colors, are fun. He has a passion for pastels, and is always seeking to create new expressions with medium.
