Petra Knezic is a self taught artist from Slovenia that focuses on ink art. She uses precise technical pens (ISOGRAPHS) with drawing ink, that let her create very detailed drawings on paper or canvas, for the sake of exploring an idea with the smallest line.

Her art is based on creating stories, using empty-faced, gridded people (SOULIES) or skeletons, to invite the viewer to mentally collage their person into the drawing and experience it for themselves. She seldom steps out of the black and white variations, as she sees her love of ink as an upgrade from previously used pencil and charcoal and a possibility to strip down a situation into it´s building bricks.

She is currently working on completing her underwater collection named GRIDS & BRICKS, documented here on her website. The artwork is separated into the main Fine Art drawings, that are available as Limited Editions Giclée Fine Art Prints and the encompassing smaller designs of SOULIES. Those sometimes follow the stories from the main Grids and Bricks ink collection or they run off on their side adventures. Soulies are also a step into a more colourful world, where the importance of symbolism is not lost.

Petra has been published in international art magazines around the world and has been awarded the Leonardo da Vinci Award - The Universal Artist in Florence, Italy as well as the Canaletto Prize for outstanding work in her art career in Mira (Venice), Italy. She has recently been published as one of the ten finalists in the abstract and experimental art issue of the leading art magazine International Artist Magazine. She has been selected as one of the 20 jury selected artists in the last CCBA International Milano Art Competition, finishing 2016 with an international group exhibition at the Art Passage gallery in the heart of Milan, Italy.

The GRIDS & BRICKS Underwater Collection of ink drawings:

Everything in this collection of drawings is created out of the same element, the building brick that builds houses and cities, it builds animals, creatures of the sea and sky, galaxies with their stars, it builds whatever I desire to draw with a commentary and it builds its environment, air molecules and water, clear or polluted, it´s always a BRICK.

The only soft-lined element in these drawings are the Soulies. Their body wears a grid and that grid holds their unique and personal flow of lines, their spirit.
