Anita J. Wexler

Being a stone carver is one of the most challenging and satisfying forms of creativity. I am constantly fascinated, motivated and tested by this physically demanding medium. Sculpting in stone requires a reservoir of flexibility brought on by the inherent characteristics of the material. Risk taking is part of my nature and also effects pushing the stone to its limits. By taking risks, it is possible to achieve a higher level of growth, and to me, this is what creativity is all about.

I am a native of Los Angeles, California, and have been widely influenced by the beauty of the shapes and forms of the mountains, desert and ocean.

My earlier work was primarily abstract, followed by incorporating water, thereby creating fountains. In recent years, there has been a return to the representational. Now, my work sometimes combines all of the above.

My work has been shown in galleries in Los Angeles, San Diego, Pietrasanta, Italy as well as Salon D'Automne, 1997, Paris France. Commissioned work has been done both privately and publicly. My studio is here in Los Angeles as well as Italy.
