Originally from Canada, I live and paint in the greater Chicago area. My acrylics on canvas are present time creations, not preconceived, although I have a starting point in nature. As the work progresses, each addition suggests the next based on a drive to achieve a certain sensation or aesthetic effect and the end result is unknown until it presents itself. Additions of images from renaissance art and images from everyday life such as signs or chairs are not intentionally imbued with meaning but if they suggest a nameless sense of import or mystery, I feel satisfied.
