Location: Norway

About me:
I was born in California in 1962 and moved to Norway at the age of 7. I now live and work in Oslo.
Photography is my passion and has always been a big part of me. Just took me awhile to expose it.

I am constantly in search for the image to reveal itself to me.
While always having a camera in hand I like to capture my surroundings as they are presented to me.
Most likely I will find the image indirectly by a reflection and turn it into my personal view. Blending layers of the real world into a dreamlike vision. I never preimagine them and I tend to use people who are in my nearest present (whether they know it or not), myself or my family members as models.
Everything you see is everything I saw in the camera.

I have studied under master photographers Morten Krogvold, Michael Ackerman, Arno Rafael Minkinnen, Joyce Tenneson and recently Jeff Cowen.
Different artists and artforms inpsire me and I am autodidact.

Galleri Ramfjord (www.galleriramfjord.no) currently has some of my work on commission.
At Galleri Ramfjord I have been one of 15 chosen artists (of 450 entrants) in their yearly stipend compentition, with new juries every year, for the last 5 years. This includes a show of the finalists. In 2012 the show was in New York.

Second Shadow

This is a project I spent a few years with and they also became a book called Second Shadow. I am not a religious person but sometimes I feel I have someone watching over me and I found a poem that describes the sense. The original language is Norwegian by our very famous Rolf Jacobsen but here it is translated into english.
g u a r d i a n a n g e l

I am the bird that knocks at your window in the morning
and your companion, whom you cannot know,
the blossoms that light up for the blind.

I am the glacier’s crest above the forests, the dazzling one
and the brass voices from cathedral towers.
The thought that suddenly comes over you at midday
and fills you with a singular happiness.

I am one you have loved long ago.
I walk alongside you by day and look intently at you
and put my mouth on your heart
but you don’t know it.

I am your third arm and your second
shadow, the white one,
whom you don’t have the heart for
and who cannot ever forget you.
