women life freedom

iran is unlikely to be the same again after the September 13 arrest of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini. The Iranian capital's morality police arrested her for allegedly violating strict dress code rules imposed by the Islamic Republic. After being beaten at the police station, she fell into a deep coma, dying in hospital three days later. Rather than being a grim news item, the young woman has been turned into a martyr, her death sparking a wave of protests that quickly spread across the country. The rallying cry, 'Woman, Life, Freedom' is screamed across the country in unprecedented demonstrations, which the regime has not managed to stifle despite their bloody brutality. Across the world, the same cry is being chanted in local languages; a rallying cry that already has a long history, inseparable from one iteration of the Kurdish militancy.
