Anna Mihailidou was born in 1975 in Athens.
In 1997 she studied drawing - caricature - comics at the School of Applied Arts.
In 2001 she enrolled at the Athens School of Fine Arts, studying painting and engraving in the School's workshop.
During her studies she received the Scholarship State Foundation Award and graduated with honors in 2006.
Anna Mihailidou currently lives and works in Athens.
The painting of Anna Michailidou is an acute and sometimes caustic political commentary on the everyday aspects of contemporary urban reality that we experience. The artist consciously focuses her artistic interest on the problems posed to humans by space, the natural and human environment in which they live, act and,
above all, and undergoes certain situations.
Anna Michailidou manages to face reality, not only as an active participant, but also as an objective observer. In her work, the human being as prisoner of the conditions of modern life is depicted with clarity and, at the same time, with sensitivity. The same man who has difficulty defining his life, exactly because others have, without his knowledge, taken on this role, being self-appointed. The illusion of free will appears on the facial expression depicted in the works of the painter.
The artist chooses subtle design lines that seem to bring out the inner emptiness of persons and things, combined with the realistic visual depiction of selected emerging human, primarily forms. The color of the palette ranges from the warm earth tones to the cold shades of gray, while bold colors highlight important details in her works, revealing scenes of martyrdom of modern human life, which is consumed in the hectic pace of city life.
