Linda Lea Bertrand

Linda Lea Bertrand is a Marblehead Artist who began painting as a means of decreasing stress. Starting with watercolors, because of the ease of fitting them into her busy life, she gradually included pastels and oils. She had her first solo exhibit at Grovesnor Park, which included all 3 media, in 2009. She began oil painting after meeting noted artist David Curtis while doing plein air pastels. She joined his plein air group of oil painters and has been developing her oil painting skills ever since. In 2011 she was named a SeARTS artist of the week, and had a painting published in NORTHSHORE LIFE. In 2012 she was selected for two solo shows through the Newburyport Arts Association. She displays her work regularly at the art associations where she is a member – Marblehead, Newburyport , North Shore and Rockport, participates in various local “Fresh Paint “ exhibits and participates in Marblehead Festival of Arts.

Besides the coaching of David Curtis, she has studied with Paul George, Charlotte Wharton and Daniel Greene, each contributing something unique to her development as an artist.

“ I enjoy being outdoors. Most of my recent paintings are landscapes done on location. Attempting to capture the effect of light as it moves through the day is the challenge of plein air painting.” Subjects are chosen to evoke peace, and tranquility. I want to invite the viewers into my painting to recall a similar place where they have experienced the same feelings of peace that I experienced painting it. “
