Manuel Riera Duran Mildan maestro pintor ecuatoriano quien vivio y trabajo en Tovar Venezuela
Manuel Riera Duran mejor conocido como MILDAN , nacio en la provincia de Santa Isabel de Azuay en Ecuador , el 13 de Octubre de 1928. De padre Irlandes y de madre dedicada a la medicina.
Fue un lector precoz y ya a los 12 años habia escrito su primera novela.
Posteriormente se traslada a Guayaquil y a Cuenca para cursar estudios superiores de arte entre 1948 y 1950.
Llega a Caracas venezuela en 1966 e imparte clases de arte pero en 1974 se establece de manera definitiva en la ciudad de Tovar en el estado Merida de Venezuela hasta su muerte.
En Tovar contrae matrimonio y tiene dos hijos ademas se dedica exclusivamente a la produccion de su obra artistica y a la experimentacion con materiales.
Apoya al talento joven emergente en Tovar en su casa taller.
Su trabajo esta influenciado por el realismo lirico, el surealismo y el abstraccionismo lirico.
Maestros como Gauguin, Cezanne, Marc Chagall, Vasily Kandinsky , Hector Poleo fueron objeto de estudio por MILDAN ademas de influir en su obra de manera considerable.
Mnauel Riera Duran, better known as MILDAN, was born in the province of Santa Isabel de Azuay in Ecuador, on October 13, 1928. From an Irish father and a mother dedicated to medicine.
He was a precocious reader and by the age of 12 he had written his first novel.
Later he moved to Guayaquil and Cuenca to study higher art studies between 1948 and 1950.
He arrived in Caracas, Venezuela in 1966 and taught art classes, but in 1974 he settled permanently in the city of Tovar in the Merida state of Venezuela until his death.
In Tovar he married and has two children, he also dedicates himself exclusively to the production of his artistic work and to experimentation with materials.

His work is influenced by lyrical realism, surealism and lyrical abstractionism.
Masters such as Gauguin, Cezanne, Marc Chagall, Vasily Kandinsky, Hector Poleo were studied by MILDAN in addition to influencing his work in a considerable way.

Tal vez ....en Tovar donde vivio por 50 años y luego de cierto vinculo y relacion muy estrecha con los artistas emergentes
incluso ocasionalmente algunos le trabajaron en el taller como asistentes lo que se tradujo en algunos de ellos que comenzaron a trabajar temas y recursos que el maestro Mildan manejaba tales como:
" transparencias , El colorido sepia y ocre, El manejo especulativo del oleo, El neo-paisajismo , la neo-figuracion"

Fui testigo y alumno, Le conoci apenas a mis 9 años de edad y fui su asistente ocasional del maestro Mildan . Hoy le rindo respeto y espero que no apeguemos esa luz que junto a Elbano Mendez Osuna encendieron en Tovar Venezuela
