Kim Walker is an internationally recognized artist, mother of four, grandmother of six, and loving wife. Originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, Kim has spent her adult life in Arizona helping with her husband's business and volunteering at her children's schools. Her children grew up to be teachers, an entrepreneur, and a nurse.
Kim's son Robby began attending community college at age 9. While transporting him to and from college, Kim decided to attend classes herself. She became the first person in her family to receive a degree - a B.F.A. in painting - and had the unique experience of taking some classes with her son.
Since then, Kim has developed a unique style of painting that incorporates pressed flowers and natural elements. Kim's art, a reflection of the beauty and inspiration of nature, is represented in galleries and juried and invitational exhibits nationwide and is included in private, corporate, and municipal collections all over the world.

When you look at my artwork, please realize you are looking at not only paint but also actual botanic elements from nature. My paintings are intended to be a reverent reflection of the beauty and inspiration and lessons from nature. In addition to acrylics and various paint mediums I collect and press natural elements such as leaves, petals, ferns etc. and incorporate them in my art. I write an original poem on the back of each piece as a further expression of my gratitude for these amazing gifts. I compose my art on birch panels with basswood sides. It measures 27 X 27 X 2. The following is my original poem that I wrote for this painting and it is hand-written on the back:
JOYFUL
Joy arises
Through heartfelt compromises
In the presence
Of patience
And the absence
Of apathy.

Mother Earth
So kind and loving
Your sunshine keeps me warm
Your breezes wrap around me
Like hugs for a lonely soul
Your beauty so inspires me
To look deeper and deeper still
Your lessons they empower me

48X36X2 - Actual Palm frond integrated into this botanical mixed-media painting. Very powerful and textured! Totally unique original art. Process took over eight months. Created using acrylics and various paint mediums as well as inclusion of an actual palm frond that went through numerous alterations during a vast variety of processes.
